The 623rd Meeting of the Association’s Board of Directors was held on 6 December 2024 and alterations to the following Rules were approved to be effective from 20 February 2025. Details of these alterations will be reported to the Members in our circular to be issued in early February 2025.

Rule 12 (LAID-UP RETURNS) 1
A clarification of the definition of laid-up, stating that, in principle, periods during which a vessel is undergoing inspections, repairs, alteration works, detention, etc., are not included in the period of lay-up except in cases approved by the Association.

Rule 29 (CARGO LIABILITIES) 2 (5)
The amendments are in line with the amendment to the Pooling Agreement. Hitherto, liabilities arising from use of an electronic trading system were excluded unless it had been approved. As use of e-bills increases, the International Group of P&I Clubs has agreed to include liabilities arising from e-bills which are governed by a law which allows for their legal recognition, provided the relevant platform or system is reliable.
