Attending the MACN Member Meeting in Malaysia

The Association is a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) to strengthen our efforts in addressing bribery and corruption. The MACN Members Meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October this year, with 139 participants, including stakeholders from the maritime industry and anti-corruption experts. Yoshio Imaizumi, Senior Specialist, attended the meeting from the Associations.


This meeting aimed to promote anti-corruption measures in the maritime industry. It covered a wide range of topics, including introductions to anti-corruption initiatives and the Port Integrity Campaign in Port Klang, Malaysia (a campaign aimed at eradicating malpractice and bribery in ports).


Examples of topics covered:

  • Current status of anti-corruption initiatives in Malaysia
  • Response to corruption incidents in ports
  • How to use MACN's compliance tools
  • Efforts to eradicate corruption in Port State Control
  • Updates on "shadow fleets"

As a supporting member of MACN, the Associations will continue to monitor trends in preventing bribery and corruption in the maritime industry and support activities to enhance the transparency and reliability of the maritime industry, together with stakeholders.
