We have obtained information by Huatai Insurance Agency & Consultant Service Ltd. on Notice on the “Announcement on Implementing the Facilitation Measures for ‘One-time Ship Position Reporting’ in Major Waters across the Country” issued by China MSA on 21 October 2024.

The facilitation measures came into effect on 12 November 2024, and the coverage area includes the Bohai Rim region, Yangtze River Delta and the Main stream of the Yangtze River region, Pearl River Delta region, Qiongzhou Strait region and Beibu Gulf region. Applicable ships are those with a length of 80 metres and above that accurately display the AIS information, excluding passenger ships and ships on trial voyages.

Taking into account the implementation of the new facilitation measures, it is suggested that ships are to ensure their onboard communication devices such as the AIS and VHF telephony are functioning properly, and to verify the accuracy of information displayed on their AIS before entering the waters where measures are applicable. Additionally, please make sure that the crew members onboard ships fully understand the measures and familiarize themselves with the reporting requirements and relevant precautions well in advance.
