China – Temporary Requirements and Control Measures over Ships in Waters of Xiamen Port area during BRICS summit

Please refer to our Japan P&I News No.899 dated 8th June 2017. We have obtained additional circular on the notice issued by Xiamen People’s Government from Huatai Insurance Agency & Consultant Service Ltd., our correspondent in China, as follows:

As per the notice, from 0000hrs on 1 September 2017 to 2400hrs on 6 September 2017, all the ships that enter into waters of Xiamen port area are not allowed to use fuel oil with sulphur content exceeding 0.5%.
 
From 0000hrs on 20 August 2017 to 2400hrs on 26 August 2017, it is forbidden for oil tanker, chemical tanker, liquefied gas carrier and ships carrying packed explosive materials, inflammable gas, flammable liquid, oxidation material, organic peroxides, self-reactive substances, highly toxic product, infectious substances, radioactive substance to enter into or depart from waters of Xiamen port area.
 
From 0000hrs on 27 August 2017 to 2400hrs on 6 September 2017, operations of loading and discharging dangerous cargo in Xiamen harbour district is prohibited. Ships carrying dangerous cargo other than those classified as Class 8 (corrosive material) and Class 9 (Miscellaneous dangerous substances) are prohibited from entering into or departing from the waters of Xiamen port area.
