Turkey – Pollution Fines (2018)
We would like to announce the latest information about the Pollution Fines of Turkey. According to the local source, the pollution fines have been increased sensationally. The tariff is effective from 10 December 2018.

- For pollution caused by tankers discharging petroleum and petroleum derivatives (such as crude oil, fuel products, bilge, sludge, slop, refined product, greasy waste materials etc.):
- For vessels less than 1,000 GT / Turkish Lira (TL) 400.- per GT
- For vessels between 1,000 GT – 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amount TL 100.- per GT
- For vessels more than 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amounts TL 10.- per GT.
- For pollution caused by tankers discharging dirty ballast:
- For vessels less than 1,000 GT / TL 72.88.- per GT
- For vessels between 1,000 GT – 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amount TL 14.54.- per GT
- For vessels more than 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amounts TL 2.32.- per GT.
- For pollution caused by ships and other naval vessels discharging petroleum derivatives (such as bilge, sludge, slop, fuel products, greasy waste materials etc…) or dirty ballast:
- For vessels less than 1,000 GT / TL 200.- per GT
- For vessels between 1,000 GT – 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amount TL 40.- per GT
- For vessels more than 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amounts TL 10.- per GT.
- For pollution caused by tankers, ships and other naval vessels discharging solid waste or domestic wastewater:
- For vessels less than 1,000 GT / TL 100.- per GT
- For vessels between 1,000 GT – 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amount TL 20.- per GT
- For vessels more than 5,000 GT / in addition to above fine amounts TL 10.- per GT.
