Japan P&I Club Hosts Inaugural Greece Reception at Posidonia 2026 - Strengthening Global Presence through a Robust Japanese Foundation and a Distinctive ‘Personal Touch’ -

11 June 2026
On 2 June 2026, to coincide with Posidonia 2026, one of the world’s premier international maritime exhibitions, the Japan P&I Club hosted its inaugural reception party in Greece. The event took place at DOT Beach Vibes, a scenic beach venue located in Voula, near Athens.

Set against the spectacular open-air setting of the Aegean Sea, the buffet-style reception brought together over 200 prominent maritime professionals from across the global shipping industry for an evening of warm and productive networking. Reflecting the Club’s commitment to its signature 'Personal Touch', the venue was chosen for its welcoming, relaxed atmosphere rather than lavish display, which was highly praised by the attendees.

During the event, Mr Ryoichi Oda, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Japan P&I Club, delivered a welcoming address to the assembled guests.

Admiring the stunning coastal views, Mr Oda opened his speech by noting that he could think of no better place to celebrate the true spirit of Posidonia. He highlighted that Greek market is vital, both for the future of global shipping and for the strategic growth of the Club. “Our roots and our solid foundation are in Japan, but our ambition is global,” Mr Oda stated, reaffirming the Club’s commitment to becoming the partner of choice for regional shipowners by leveraging the unwavering stability, reliability, and expertise developed in the Japanese market.

Mr Oda also reported on the Club’s steady expansion in the region, noting that its Greek market share has grown to approximately 2% of its total ocean-going premium since 2022. While the Club does not currently maintain a physical office in Greece, he brought a touch of humor to the evening, remarking that the breathtaking beach setting made him feel so close to the local shipping community that it could effectively serve as the Club’s 'Greek Office', drawing warm applause and smiles from the audience. He then underscored the strength of the Club’s extensive global claims network spanning London, Singapore, and Japan, which ensures seamless, round-the-clock expert support without time-zone delays.

In closing, Mr Oda addressed the challenges of an increasingly unpredictable market, explaining how the Japan P&I Club uniquely blends financial stability, technical expertise, and a dedicated personal touch. He powerfully concluded his address by reaffirming the Club's core philosophy: “We are not just your insurers; we are your partners in navigating the complexities of modern shipping,” strongly demonstrating the Club's resolute commitment to standing by its Members through changing times.

Upholding its pride and prudent management as a Japan-based P&I club, the Club remains fully committed to providing steadfast security to its existing Members while continuously enhancing its global services to support safe navigation worldwide.
