To be compensable, illness during repatriation must be cause of death

With respect to crew claims, we present recent ruling information from our correspondent, Del Rosario Pandiphil Inc. in the Philippines. The Court of Appeals ruled that the widow of the deceased seafarer was not entitled to receive the death compensation due to the lack of proof with respect to the relationship between the illness which caused his repatriation and the underlying cause of the seafarer's death.
